Born in Simferopol, Ukraine in 1996, Zhanna Gubanova began her ballet training at the State Choreographic School in Kyiv, which she entered in 2006. She graduated in 2014 from the class of Z.G. Dolgih.
During her studies, Zhanna garnered significant international recognition, achieving second place at the International Serge Lifar Competition in Donetsk, Ukraine (2011). In 2013, she was awarded the Gold Medal in the Ballet category at the Delphic Youth Games of the CIS Member States in Novosibirsk.
Her professional career commenced in 2014 at the Kremlin Ballet in Moscow, where she danced until 2016. She then joined the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre in Moscow, distinguishing herself as one of their Leading Soloists from 2016 to 2022.
Since the 2023/24 season, Zhanna Gubanova has been a valued member of the Bayerisches Staatsballett. Her rapid ascent within the company saw her promoted to demi-soloist for the 2024/25 season, followed by a further promotion to soloist on April 10, 2025, on the opening night of the Wings of Memory Triple Bill.
