Yan Omelnitsky was born in St. Petersburg.
He graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy (B. A. performing department, ballet dancer; teachers: Boris Bregvadze, Alisa Strogaya) in 2004 continuing his education in the Russian Academy of State Service at the President of RF (B. A. managment department). In 2025 he also graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy as a teacher (M. A. pedagogical department; teachers: Maria Gribanova, Natalia Tarasova, Natalia Yananis).
During his career Yan Omelnitsky was a ballet dancer at the Konstantin Tachkin’s St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre and St. Petersburg State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after M. P. Mussorgsky — Mikhailovsky Theatre for more than 7 years. Now he is a teacher of the Vaganova Ballet Academy.
His repertoire at the Mikhailovsky Theatre and Konstantin Tachkin’s Theatre included:
