We are delighted to introduce our Contemporary Dance Teacher in Alicante, Anton Valdbauer @antonvaldbauer. The incredible dancer and choreographer has come a long way to find his own dance language and his teaching method.
Anton began his career in ballet as a pure classicist: he graduated from St. Petersburg’s Vaganova Ballet School and danced a lot of classical roles. But when he was still a student, he saw "Bella Figura," a ballet in an act by Jiří Kylián performed by the NDT company, and that marked the turning point in his life. "I want to dance this," he thought and embarked on a new journey towards his dreams.
Anton joined Nederlands Dans Theater II in 2006, 2009-2010 danced with Cullberg Ballet in Stockholm, and joined Nederland Dans Theater I in 2011. He later became the first soloist of the Royal Swedish Ballet. So far Anton has had the privilege of dancing and co-creating with Jiří Kylián, Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek, Crystal Pite, Marco Goecke, and Alexander Ekman, to name a few.
As a choreographer, Anton Valdbauer has created more than 20 works. In 2005, her piece "6 Seconds" earned a diploma at the 10th Moscow International Ballet Competition.
“It takes a lot to become a great classical dancer, but it takes no less to become a high-level contemporary dancer,” he says. During his classes you will have the opportunity to start your own journey in contemporary ballet.
