We are pleased to introduce the new contemporary dance teacher of the St. Petersburg Summer Intensive. The lovely Balázs Baranyai @balibaranyai is assistant to Nacho Duato, tutor at Mikhailovsky Theater and teacher of modern dance at the Eifman Dance Academy.
Hungarian dancer, teacher and choreographer, Balázs Baranyai attended the School of Dance Art in Pecs (Hungary), graduated with honors and entered the Hungarian Academy of Dance Art.
Subsequently, Balázs continued his studies, complementing his training with the Palluca Schulle International Dance Course, Dresden, in 1999, the Alicia Alonso Dance Course, Madrid, in 2000 and the Ballet des Jeunes d'Europe, Aix-en Provence, in 2001.
During his career as a dancer, Balázs Baranyai has worked with companies such as Opera de Lyon, Ballet d'Europe, Compagnie Pal Frenak and became director and professor of ballet at the Rijeka National Theatre (2013-2016).
Balázs’ rich stage and choreographic experience is complemented by a wide teaching practice in:
- Hungarian Academy of Dance - guest teacher of contemporary dance and choreographer;
- Bratislava Dance Academy - guest teacher of classical dance, modern dance and choreographer;
- New Hungarian Dance Theater;
- Lille (France);
- Ekaterimburg Dance Theater (Russia);
- TNT Dances (Russia) - choreographer;
- Viewpoint Teacher (Rusia);
- Kannon Dance (Russia);
- B Dance Academy Eifman (St. Petersburg, Russia) - modern dance teacher.
Balázs Baranyai was awarded with awards like:
- Hungarian National Dance Competition 1997: Second Prize.
- First HDAA and Foundation Choreographer Competition November 1999: First Prize.
- Third HDAA and Foundation Novre 2001 Choreographer Competition: Second Prize.
- Tanzolymp Berlin 2015: Special Award.
