RMB Teacher Anton Valdbauer by Antonio Gervasi
POSTED ON17.11.2022
We’re pleased to introduce our contemporary class teacher in Alicante, Anton Valdbauer @antonvaldbauer.
The amazing dancer and choreographer has come a long way to find his own dance language and his method of teaching.

Anton started his ballet journey as a pure classicist: he graduated from the Vaganova Ballet School in St Petersburg and danced a whole bunch of classical roles. But while still a student, he saw “Bella Figura”, a one-act ballet by Jiří Kylián performed by NDT company – and that’s what marked the turning point of his life. “I want to dance this”, he thought and embarked on a new journey of his dreams.

Anton joined Nederlands Dans Theater II in 2006, in 2009–2010 he danced with Cullberg Ballet in Stockholm, and joined Nederlands Dans Theater I in 2011. Later he became a first soloist of the Swedish Royal Ballet. By now Anton has had the privilege to dance and co-create with Jiří Kylián, Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek, Crystal Pite, Marco Goecke, and Alexander Ekman, to name a few.

As a choreographer, Anton Valdbauer has created over 20 works. In 2005, his piece “6 Seconds” won a Diploma at the 10th International Ballet Competition in Moscow.
“It takes a lot to become a great classical dancer, but it takes no less to become a high-level contemporary dancer”, he says.

During his classes you will have a chance to start your own way in contemporary ballet – you’ll get the taste of it through the repertoire work by Johan Inger and two pieces that Anton Valdbauer will create just for you.
